Amazing myself that Blue Star Kachina hadn’t been entered into this Blog, as you know the main purpose of my posts is to begin topics for further research and/or to keep references, videos and links for later (to myself). My hope is to return to pages and improve, update and provide more information to corroborate. Therefore, I apologize to the reader in advance, if some of the material, such as Blue Star Kachina copied from Wikipedia (as below). Note, there are many resources for Hopi knowledge.

Red Earth Consultants is a collaboration with First Nations from Canada to design and build high-tech green-homes using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) imported from China and assembled in British Columbia. The BC corp is strategically aligned with Port Alberni Groups to assemble homes en-mass in Canada, to address a critical housing shortage for Canada’s indigenous people. The next-generation, smart-homes are built to last, safe, strong and hi-tech with a custom west coast finish and native -art touch.

Wisdom of all indigenous people becomes more valuable as we witness climate changes and experience weather challenges on a local and regional level. Now more than ever, we will appreciate the logic of a tribe or band as can learn much about co-operation from our native friends and colleagues. First Nations deserve the title and we need to honour them as such and be grateful now, that tribes remained strong.

    Blue Star Kachina

In Frank Waters‘s writings on Hopi mythology, the Blue Star Kachina or Saquasohuh, is a kachina or spirit, that will signify the coming of the beginning of the new world by appearing in the form of a blue star. The Blue Star Kachina is said to be the ninth and final sign before the “Day of Purification”, described as a catastrophe or a “world engulfing cataclysm” that will lead to the purification of planet Earth. Author Jason Colavito investigated this prophecy and found no reference to it before the late twentieth century.

According to Hopi prophecy (as reported by Waters), shortly after the Blue Star Kachina is visible to all and the Day of Purification is realized, the True White Brother will come to earth in search of Hopi “who steadfastly adhere to their ancient teachings.” It is said that if the True White Brother fails in his mission and is unable to find uncorrupted men and women, that the earth will be completely destroyed and none will be spared. However, if successful in bringing the symbols and finding those who still follow the true Hopi way of life, the world will be created anew and all the faithful will be saved from destruction.

    Make the World Greta again

Greta Thunberg started a climate activist movement not seen since Greenepace (see below) but this time it’s move widespread, more connected and much, much more powerful. Greta launched Fridays for Future, an idea that addresses the root cause of man-made climate change, our own individual consumption. An idea that demands our attention.

    The History of Greenpeace

In 1971, a small team of activists set sail from Vancouver, Canada, in an old fishing boat. Their mission: to protest underground nuclear testing by the US military at Amchitka, a tiny volcanic island off western Alaska. Though they were eventually stopped, these activists went on to create an organization called Greenpeace, with the belief that individual, non-violent action can create positive change.

    Along comes Greta Thunberg

Now this young Vegan Swede has been nominated for a Nobel peace Prize and as each day goes by more people are becoming aware of her message; that survival of mankind needs to be a priority and the steps being taken by Government leadership is inadequate. There needs to be more Scientist involved in the dialog and a greater level of urgency at the top.

The 16 Year Old Calling Out Global Leaders on Climate Change

    What is Fridays For Future?

#FridaysforFuture is a peoples movement following the call from @GretaThunberg to school strike.

    Why are kids striking?

School children are required to attend school. But with the worsening Climate Destruction this goal of going to school begins to be pointless.
    – Why study for a future, which may not be there?
    – Why spend a lot of effort to become educated, when our governments are not listening to the educated?

The basics on how/when/where to strike

Greta requests that people strike infront of their closest town hall, every friday. With a sign, take a picture and post it with the hashtags
    #Fridaysforfuture
    #Climatestrike

    How supporters can support

Many people do not think they can strike, i.e. they are worried about their school grades. The Belgium schools all used clocks which then ‘struck’ and then took a picture and this was there method to strike on November 30. Other groups have other ways to find a way to strike, even churches have their bells strike! Some empathy strike. All support is welcome.

If you post your work with the hashtag #FridaysForFuture and #ClimateStrike we will be able to find and share your excellent work.
    About Fridays For Future

    Fridays for Future Canada

In August 2018, Greta Thunberg began the “Fridays For Future” movement. The first climate strike in solidarity with Greta in the Americas happened in Canada on Friday, November 2, 2018. By Friday, December 7, 2018, there were nine youth groups in Canada striking. Many youths in Canada are now striking regularly. There we 98 strikes for Canada’s national strike on Friday, May 3, 2019 and 104 events across Canada on the May 24th global strike. Around the world youth and adults will unite during the week of September 20-27. Please stay tuned.

Message to Greta and Fridays for Future Followers

Scholarships are being offered in weather modification, so there’s something missing from the discussion about man-made climate change.

  • Costa Rica Confession

    Costa Rica Confession

Cementerio Cabuya, Costa Rica (Cemetary Island)
Cementerio Cabuya, Costa Rica (Cemetary Island)

I only hired a prostitute once in my life, in Scottsdale Arizona, an African American woman, she got in my limo with my two cousins and I, to inject heroine into my arm as that’s all we could find that night. I was twenty something, it was 1983 and I was flying to Hong Kong the next day for the first time. I’d just been spoiled for three weeks playing the great desert golf courses of Phoenix, waiting on my Australia visa. She did the deed that night and was surprised to be dropped off so fast, with having only to do that one thing.

That was also the last time I ever punctured myself and I never talk about it because I am still so disgusted in myself. How did I ever get that twisted? One of the factors was I had lost a long time love because of my own infidelity, I was heart-broken and running away to Australia to avoid responsibility, to live on the beach, swim, surf and read books. So I became a bartender and later invented Lock up your Daughters Charters, which was a Barrier Reef sail boat cruise, for a workmen camp in Port Douglas, during a Northern Queensland construction-boom.

I bought myself time and read allot of classics, while circumnavigating Ozzy 3 times by land (and 1600 miles by sea), plus hitched across the Nulabor Desert alone, with a surf board (that was stupid because I could hardly stand-up and it reduced my rides) but and also rode the midnight train through the heart from Alice Springs, past Ayers Rock, to Adelaide.

Before I left Australia, after 3 years time to think about who I wanted to be, I came to terms with my disgusting mistakes. I made an oath to always honour fidelity, never inject drugs (unless it’s an absolute emergency), and never hire prostitutes but always treat them as fairly as everyone else. Just those simple things.

Costa Rica in the 90’s was the Hemmingway’esque period of my life because so much was going in the heydays of Internet Sportsbetting. I was a consultant to one of the titans in the industry, with a staff of 400+ and a gross handle above $1B. Ft. Lauderdale was so close and the flight a single beverage ride, then you land in a truly great country with awesome people called Tico’s and a very charming and traditional San Juan, the capital city.

In the beginning I liked to rent a room in El President Hotel on the side facing the central bank and famous gold artifact museum. From that Hotel balcony I could look on the roof of a building responsible for $5B/year in Internet gaming revenues, the CR Banco Central. I knew there must be a legal way to connect into that flow, as I think of money as energy not actual stacks of cash paper. To me, Energy begets more energy, and you need to tap into energy to make energy but it all starts with an idea and knowing where the energy is and how to use words to get some.

My idea was to help other people succeed and recruit to my weakness, determine my strengths and find associates who are sharp at he things I can’t do so well. i.e. spreadsheets, just for an example however in business you need skills multi-task, multi-capable, independent strategic partners. People you can trust and have proven to good to their word, truly accountable and you won’t know for sure until there’s cash on the table, then the truth comes to the light. So you have to try again and again to align with the right people, at the right time, with the right idea.

Costa Rica was incredible because the best of the best work there. These big operations have incredible leadership and the ranks are filled with exceptional managers from all over the world, who get pulled into the vortex which is online gambling operations. The second oldest profession on the human record and just a mirror copy of wall street, for anyone who wants to cast a stone. What I was amazed by was the legal prostitutes that worked in the big central hotel, which was  the main watering hole for Gringos working in San Jose, and sometimes private jets would bring entire teams for party with the enormous collection of girls that worked there.

There’s so many Range Rovers in such a small country that you often wonder what’s really going on here, is this all from coffee?

When I moved to the magnificent Casa Alta Vista in Escazu, I experienced the very finest of art and culture, as well as world class cuisine, in a replica of a famous building from Europe, with views of an active volcano across the valley. I’ve never lived in such fabulous splendour, Costa Rica rocks!

My amazing suite at the Alta Vista was not too far from the U.S. Embassy and CR Country Club, with all it’s gated compounds and hidden villas, always a nice drive down the mountain on sunset and into town to enjoy the camaraderie of my fellow Internet web warriors, at the happy hour in the big hotel during the procession of the licensed prostitutes.

At the Big Hotel these women were not Tico’s, by and large they were from other Central American countries, also Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. I was there because it was part of my job, in that I was boots on the ground and often the client would fly in from Dallas, or legal folks from Miami, which is a nice quick comfy flight, you never know who will arrive on a Friday night happy hour, ahead of a big weekend. The girls would arrive almost like a parade and this was there party place and they controlled it.

My wife was amazed when I took her there one day, and to meet some of the girls I had met. She always knew it was part of my work, since I’m like an envoy from Miami to San Jose. We had nice table and many of the pros came over and talked to us, they were every type of soul, some were even mothers putting kids through school, or working for their families, many of them are putting themselves through school and I can’t say that I ever met many that were downtrodden, actually the ones who owned cars were the idols that the others girls looked up to, and although this was decades ago they loved to show-off the cell-phones and all the bling.

My other observation was that when one working girl knows your not a customer and after you’ve been around for awhile, one tells another and they begin to treat you different, more like an ally. Other people treated me differently too, because they knew. The taxi-van driver knew too, she was a good friend and always either drove me everywhere, or organized vans and drivers for my guests and their entourages. The prostitution laws of Costa Rica were designed to protect the girls for health related issues but the laws of the jungle have to protect them from violence, still though they have to deal with allot of drunk and often belligerent men and vile attitudes.

So who’s at fault, the John or the Jane? How did this whole thing get started and how do we end it? My point is that all people deserve to be treated fairly, no matter what those people do for a living, they are still interesting and often warm individuals with cool stories. Everyone deserves a second chance to make amends. Redemption belongs to us all.

It’s wrong to take advantage of someone because of a wrong decision they made in the past. That was the path they chose and they’re often happy to take advantage of the stupid drunks, so it works both ways. I meet many people doing questionable things, I never felt sorry for them, how could I, being that I was involved in accepting online bets, that were probably destroying a family back at home, maybe it’s a mortgage payment.

I’m still close friends with my Ex-wife and she tells the story more times than me, about how cool it was to see the procession of licensed prostitutes who work the big legal hotels of Costa Rica. To give you a clue, it’s where they have sold millions of tee-shirts that are world famous (for keeping the secret) slogan says; “Gone Fishing in Costa Rica”

I’m no better or worse that you and my greatest weakness is my own weaknesses. The enemy is within, if I delude myself to thinking anything outside of myself can make me feel better inside myself and forget about the giant truckload of mistakes I already made. Most of which were caused by my wanting something, whatever that might have been at the time, once I got it there was nothing about it worth doing again. Now I’m lessening the wanting and seeking peace and atoning for my Costa Rica Confession.

Who doesn’t love Benjamin Franklin? What a rock star this man was, first world tour smash hit in Europe, where they were so engrossed by his hilly-billy charm and sharp whit, that he was invited backstage everywhere he went. Ben became a sensation and the entire world wanted to hear what he said next, where he went and who he was hanging with. Brilliant people always find each other more amusing, he was friends with the Avant-garde because he was the original Born in USA, Avant-garde Rock Star.

Foundational to Ben’s character was his morals, this dude was straight-forward no-bullshit, you can especially see it where he edits Jefferson’s hand in the declaration but that’s another story. The simple reason for Benjamin Franklin’s outstanding qualities as a statesman and ambassador of peace and love, as well as his belief “in God we Trust”, can by grasped by reading one of his first books. Short and simple; Book of Virtues and like a catchy Beatles song, it caught on and never stopped.

Even if Ben didn’t always live by his own list, at least he knew what the code is. In today’s world there needs to be more common sense ideology about virtue and it’s importance in the survival of mankind. Art, beauty and virtue are in short supply in our culture today. We each need to become the change we want and begin to make the changes in ourselves.

Benjamin Franklin (center) at work on a printing press. Reproduction of a Charles Mills painting by the Detroit Publishing Company.

Benjamin Franklin made the world a better place by publishing books to expand knowledge, plus he showed others how to print, franchised the press out to anyone capable enough. Ben knew that knowledge is power but without action it’s useless, so his entire life he kept publishing and helping other people to express themselves. Ben was also a Jedi Master Word Smith.

In 1726, at the age of 20, Benjamin Franklin created a system to develop his character, check it out here: The Virtuous Life: Wrap Up

Jordan Peterson explains Virtue, please listen

Jordan Peterson has been touring the world to get this point to the masses, that we need to hold ourselves to a higher level of personal responsibility. Please watch this speech and share it.

Virtue (Latin: virtus, Ancient Greek: ἀρετή “arete“) is moral excellence. A virtue is a trait or quality that is deemed to be morally good and thus is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being. Personal virtues are characteristics valued as promoting collective and individual greatness. In other words, it is a behavior that shows high moral standards. Doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong. The opposite of virtue is vice.

The four classic cardinal virtues in Christianity are temperance, prudence, courage, and justice. Christianity derives the three theological virtues of faith, hope and love (charity) from 1 Corinthians. Together these make up the seven virtues. Buddhism’s four brahmavihara (“Divine States”) can be regarded as virtues in the European sense. The Japanese Bushidō code is characterized by up to ten virtues, including rectitude, courage, and benevolence.

Michelangelo is the GOAT of art, sculpture and Architecture. His life and career spanned almost 100 years of creative genius on the next level. He was 74 years old when he began the Saint Peter Basilica, to claim his place as an unsurpassed architect. Michelangelo remains the greatest of all time, in more categories than anyone else in human history.

Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni or more commonly known by his first name Michelangelo (6 March 1475 – 18 February 1564) was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the High Renaissance born in the Republic of Florence, who exerted an unparalleled influence on the development of Western art. Considered by many the greatest artist of his lifetime, and by some the greatest artist of all time, his artistic versatility was of such a high order that he is often considered a contender for the title of the archetypal Renaissance man, along with his rival, the fellow Florentine and client of the Medici, Leonardo da Vinci.

Michelangelo was the first Western artist whose biography was published while he was alive. In fact, two biographies were published during his lifetime. One of them, by Giorgio Vasari, proposed that Michelangelo’s work transcended that of any artist living or dead, and was “supreme in not one art alone but in all three”.

    Sistine Chapel, fresco Michelangelo
Detail from The Creation of Adam, portraying the creation of mankind by God

A number of Michelangelo’s works of painting, sculpture and architecture rank among the most famous in existence.  His output in these fields was prodigious; given the sheer volume of surviving correspondence, sketches and reminiscences, he is the best-documented artist of the 16th century. He sculpted two of his best-known works, the Pietà and David, before the age of thirty. Despite holding a low opinion of painting, he also created two of the most influential frescoes in the history of Western art: the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, and The Last Judgment on its altar wall. His design of the Laurentian Library pioneered Mannerist architecture. At the age of 74, he succeeded Antonio da Sangallo the Younger as the architect of St. Peter’s Basilica. He transformed the plan so that the western end was finished to his design, as was the dome, with some modification, after his death.

    Sistine Chapel, fresco Michelangelo,
God dividing the waters, showing the illusionary architecture, and the positions of the Ignudi and shields

In his lifetime, Michelangelo was often called Il Divino (“the divine one”). His contemporaries often admired his terribilità—his ability to instil a sense of awe. Attempts by subsequent artists to imitate Michelangelo’s impassioned, highly personal style resulted in Mannerism, the next major movement in Western art after the High Renaissance.

Julian Assange is just a messenger

Julian Assange arrested on 11 April 2019
Julian Assange arrested on 11 April 2019

Julian Assange is not making up stories to cause mayhem in people’s lives, or to enrich himself from paparazzi, he’s just an electronic messenger, of information that other people created. Once upon a time this was known as journalism, now it’s classified as conspiracy theory by the people who used to be journalists and have now become news reporters.

The News Reports of modern day are not meant to expose two sides of an argument and present facts supporting both sides. The reporting is very bias towards a strictly monitored narrative, like a war of words and the enemy is truth. Facts are soldiers of the truth that news reporters kill.

There’s a Japanese proverb that says; Fear is often greater than the danger. This is a case when the truth is the opposite. Yes, people are really afraid about what Julian Assange knows, since there’s irrefutable evidence that he has all the dirt on all the dirtiest people in human history but in his case the danger of not disclosing the evidence, is far greater than silence.

Today Julian Assange was working on behalf of the best interests of all people who want peace on earth. Truth and Peace are connected.

President John F. Kennedy to the American Newspaper Publishers Association. April 27th, 1961

The very word “secrecy” is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know.

But I do ask every publisher, every editor, and every newsman in the nation to reexamine his own standards, and to recognize the nature of our country’s peril. In time of war, the government and the press have customarily joined in an effort based largely on self-discipline, to prevent unauthorized disclosures to the enemy. In time of “clear and present danger,” the courts have held that even the privileged rights of the First Amendment must yield to the public’s need for national security.

Today no war has been declared–and however fierce the struggle may be, it may never be declared in the traditional fashion. Our way of life is under attack. Those who make themselves our enemy are advancing around the globe. The survival of our friends is in danger. And yet no war has been declared, no borders have been crossed by marching troops, no missiles have been fired.

If the press is awaiting a declaration of war before it imposes the self-discipline of combat conditions, then I can only say that no war ever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of “clear and present danger,” then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent.

Immediately before his arrest, he had been under the protection of Ecuador as an asylum seeker, and had been living in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012.

Assange founded WikiLeaks in 2006 and came to international attention in 2010 when WikiLeaks published a series of leaks provided by Chelsea Manning. These leaks included the Collateral Murder video (April 2010), the Afghanistan war logs (July 2010), the Iraq war logs (October 2010), and CableGate (November 2010). Following the 2010 leaks, the federal government of the United States launched a criminal investigation into WikiLeaks and asked allied nations for assistance.

Julian Assange is a modern day super-hero and now his super-power is going to be on display for the entire world to see. The power of truth. God Bless Julian Assange for sacrificing his freedom to help protect what little freedom the rest of us have left. Never forget that he is working for you, your country, your friends and your family, to have a free future.

    Naughty Beaver’s Nostradamus Prophecy Revelations

Naughty Beaver and the Nostradamus Prophecies

Naughty Beaver and the Nostradamus Prophecies is the very best logic of all the information on Youtube. Over the years I’ve consumed vast quantities of fresh video content, with a taste for truth from real people, or people whom I could relate to, whether I believed what they were saying or not, the list is long and the purveyors of ideas and information, very diverse. The Beaver’s story is clearly laid-out, with interpretations of prophecy, deciphering the mystery of all mysteries and weaves in Bible verse and current events to state his case.

If more people would hear what he is saying and consider that everything is backed with reason and prophecy. All this amazing story because Mr. Beaver was triggered by seeing images from the lost book of Nostradamus that was discovered in the Vatican, and then he sees a documentary about the discovery of the lost manuscript of Nostradamus, which exposed never before seen sketches and drawings, many of which were improved with artist rendering and clearly Nostradamus is telling a story using symbols.

Nostradamus had one clue written in English, a language that he did not know or use, it was written; “One man will know” and the corresponding drawing is of a man/beast with a scar on his face. In other symbols related to the “one man identity” he’s using the coat of arms of Nova Scotia, where Naughty Beaver was born and several other distinctive precognition that just can’t be explained, unless you accept that it is Naughty Beaver and he just explained to us all, what Nostradamus was saying.

She grew up in an Indiana town
Had a good-lookin’ mama who never was around
But she grew up tall and she grew up right
With them Indiana boys on an Indiana night

Well, she moved down here at the age of eighteen
She blew the boys away, was more than they’d seen
I was introduced and we both started groovin’
I said, “I dig you baby, but I got to keep movin’ on
    Keep movin’ on.”

Last dance with Mary Jane, one more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin’ in and I’m tired of this town again
Well, I don’t know, but I’ve been told
You never slow down, you never grow old

I’m tired of screwin’ up, tired of going down
Tired of myself, tired of this town
Oh, my, my. Oh, hell, yes
Honey, put on that party dress

Buy me a drink, sing me a song
Take me as I come ’cause I can’t stay long
Last dance with Mary Jane, one more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin’ in and I’m tired of this town again

There’s pigeons down on Market Square
    She’s standin’ in her underwear
Lookin’ down from a hotel room
    Nightfall will be comin’ soon

Oh, my, my. Oh, hell, yes
You got to put on that party dress
It was too cold to cry when I woke up alone
I hit my last number and walked to the road

Ramana Maharshi on a 1971 stamp of India

Today I came across a bookmark in an old journal, which I had saved intentionally, like a time-capsule for myself, a wonderful synopsis of his thought, called “Man’s real nature is Happiness”…. brilliant Sage, here’s 3 quotes and Wikipedia info.

Your own Self-realization is the greatest service you can render the world.

    No one succeeds without effort…

Those who succeed owe their success to perseverance. The degree of freedom from unwanted thoughts and the degree of concentration on a single thought are the measures to gauge spiritual progress.

    Ramana Maharshi

Ramana Maharshi (30 December 1879 – 14 April 1950) was an Indian sage and jivanmukta. He was born as Venkataraman Iyer, but is most commonly known by the name Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi.

Ramana Maharshi aged twenty-two on Arunachala hill, Tiruvannamalai, South India.
The earliest known photo of the Indian sage Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. Taken in 1902, the photo shows Ramana Maharshi aged twenty-two on Arunachala hill, Tiruvannamalai, South India.

He was born in what is now Tiruchuli, Tamil Nadu, India. In 1895, an attraction to the sacred hill Arunachala and the 63 Nayanars was aroused in him, and in 1896, at the age of 16, he had a “death-experience” where he became aware of a “current” or “force” (avesam) which he recognised as his true “I” or “self”, and which he later identified with “the personal God, or Iswara“, that is, Shiva. This resulted in a state that he later described as “the state of mind of Iswara or the jnani”, Six weeks later he left his uncle’s home in Madurai, and journeyed to the holy mountain Arunachala, in Tiruvannamalai, where he took on the role of a sannyasin (though not formally initiated), and remained for the rest of his life.

He soon attracted devotees who regarded him as an avatar and came to him for darshan (“the sight of God”), and in later years an ashram grew up around him, where visitors received upadesa (“spiritual instruction”) by sitting silently in his company asking questions. Since the 1930s his teachings have been popularized in the West, resulting in his worldwide recognition as an enlightened being.

Ramana Maharshi approved a number of paths and practices, but recommended self-enquiry as the principal means to remove ignorance and abide in Self-awareness, together with bhakti (devotion) or surrender to the Self.

    Spiritual instruction

Ramana Maharshi provided upadeśa (“spiritual instruction”), by providing darshan and sitting silently together with devotees and visitors, but also by answering the questions and concerns raised by those who sought him out. Many of these question-and-answer sessions have been transcribed and published by devotees, some of which have been edited by Ramana Maharshi himself. A few texts have been published which were written by Ramana Maharshi himself, or written down on his behalf and edited by him.

Ramana Maharshi also provided an example by his own devotion to Shiva, which has been extensively described by his devotees, such as walks around the holy hill Arunachala, in which devotees participated, and his hymns to Arunachala.

    Self

Ramana Maharshi described his Self as a “force” or “current”, which descended on him in his death-experience, and continued throughout his life:

… a force or current, a centre of energy playing on the body, continuing regardless of the rigidity or activity of the body, though existing in connection with it. It was that current, force or centre that constituted my Self, that kept me acting and moving, but this was the first time I came to know it […] I had no idea at that time of the identity of that current with the personal God, or Iswara as I used to call him […] I was only feeling that everything was being done by the current and not by me […] This current, or avesam, now felt as if it was my Self, not a superimposition […] That avesam continues right up to now.

    Ramana Maharshi

Ramana used various terms to denote this Self. The most frequently used terms were sat-chit-ananda, which translates into English as “being-consciousness-bliss”, God, Brahman and Siva, and the Heart, which is not to be confused with the physical heart, or a particular point in space, but was rather to indicate that “the Self was the source from which all appearances manifested”.

According to David Godman, the essence of Ramana Maharshi’s teachings is that the “Self” or real “I” is a “non-personal, all-inclusive awareness”:

The real Self or real ‘I’ is, contrary to perceptible experience, not an experience of individuality but a non-personal, all-inclusive awareness. It is not to be confused with the individual self which (Ramana) said was essentially non-existent, being a fabrication of the mind, which obscures the true experience of the real Self. He maintained that the real Self is always present and always experienced but he emphasized that one is only consciously aware of it as it really is when the self-limiting tendencies of the mind have ceased. Permanent and continuous Self-awareness is known as Self-realization.

Ramana considered the Self to be permanent and enduring, surviving physical death. “The sleep, dream and waking states are mere phenomena appearing on the Self,” as is the “I”-thought. Our “true nature” is “simple Being, free from thoughts”.

Ramana would field many questions about jnanis (“liberated beings”) from devotees, but even the terms jnani and ajnani (non-liberated being) are incorrect, since it leads one to the idea of there being a knower and a known, a subject and an object. The truth of it according to Ramana Maharshi is that there are neither jnanis nor ajnanis, there is simply jnana, which is Self.

The jnani sees no one as an ajnani. All are only jnanis in his sight. In the ignorant state one superimposes one’s ignorance on a jnani and mistakes him for a doer. In the state of jnana, the jnani sees nothing separate from the Self. The Self is all shining and only pure jnana.

    Silence

    Ramana Maharshi

Ramana’s main means of instruction to his devotees in order to remove ignorance and abide in Self-awareness was through silently sitting together with his visitors, using words only sparingly. His method of instruction has been compared to DakshinamurtiShiva in the ascetic appearance of the Guru, who teaches through silence:

One evening, devotees asked Sri Ramana to explain the meaning of Shankara’s hymn in praise of Dakshinamurti. They waited for his answer, but in vain. The Maharishi sat motionless on his seat, in total silence.

Commenting upon this silence Ramana said:

Silence is the true upadesa. It is the perfect upadesa. It is suited only for the most advanced seeker. The others are unable to draw full inspiration from it. Therefore, they require words to explain the truth. But truth is beyond words; it does not warrant explanation. All that is possible is to indicate It. How is that to be done?

    Self-enquiry

Vichara, “Self-enquiry“, also called ātmavichār or jnana-vichara, is the constant attention to the inner awareness of “I” or “I am”. Ramana Maharshi frequently recommended it as the most efficient and direct way of realizing Self-awareness, in response to questions on self-liberation and the classic texts on Yoga and Vedanta.

According to Ramana Maharshi, the I-thought[ is the sense of individuality: “(Aham, aham) ‘I-I’ is the Self; (Aham idam) “I am this” or “I am that” is the ego.” By paying attention to the ‘I’-thought, inquiring where it comes from, the ‘I’-thought will disappear and the “shining forth” (sphurana) of “I-I”  or Self-awareness will appear. This results in an “effortless awareness of being”, and by staying with it this “I-I” gradually destroys the vasanas “which cause the ‘I’-thought to rise”. When the vasanas disappear, the mind, vritti, also comes to rest, since it centers around the ‘I’-thought, and finally the ‘I’-thought never rises again, which is Self-realization or liberation:

If one remains still without leaving it, even the sphurana – having completely annihilated the sense of the individuality, the form of the ego, ‘I am the body’ – will itself in the end subside, just like the flame that catches the camphor. This alone is said to be liberation by great ones and scriptures. (The Mountain Path, 1982, p. 98).

Robert Forman notes that Ramana Maharshi made a distinction between samadhi and sahaja samadhi. Samadhi is a contemplative state, which is temporary, while in sahaja samadhi a “silent state” is maintained while engaged in daily activities. Ramana Maharshi himself stated repeatedly that samadhi only suppresses the vāsanās, the karmic impressions, but does not destroy them. Only by abiding in Self-awareness will the vāsanās, which create the sense of a separate self, be destroyed, and sahaja samadhi be attained.

    Bhakti

Although he advocated self-enquiry as the fastest means to realisation, he also recommended the path of bhakti and self-surrender (to one’s deity or guru) either concurrently or as an adequate alternative, which would ultimately converge with the path of self-enquiry.

Surrender has to be complete and desireless, without any expectations of solutions or rewards, or even liberation. It is a willingness to accept whatever happens.  Surrender is not the willful act of an individual self, but the growing awareness that there is no individual self to surrender. Practice is aimed at the removal of ignorance, not at the attainment of realisation.

Bhagavan: There are only two ways to conquer destiny or to be independent of it. One is to inquire whose this destiny is and discover that only the ego is bound by it and not the Self and that the ego is non-existent. The other way is to kill the ego by completely surrendering to the Lord, realizing one’s helplessness and saying all the time: “Not I, but Thou, oh Lord,” giving up all sense of “I” and “mine” and leaving it to the Lord to do what He likes with you. Surrender can never be regarded as complete so long as the devotee wants this or that from the Lord. True surrender is the love of God for the sake of love and nothing else, not even for the sake of salvation. In other words, complete effacement of the ego is necessary to conquer destiny, whether you achieve this effacement through Self-inquiry or through bhakti-marga.

    Reincarnation

According to David Godman, Ramana Maharshi taught that the idea of reincarnation is based on wrong ideas about the individual self as being real. Ramana Maharshi would sometimes say that rebirth does exist, to step forward to those who were not able to fully grasp the non-reality of the individual self. But when this illusoriness is realised, there is no room any more for ideas about reincarnation. When the identification with the body stops, any notions about death and rebirth become inapplicable, since there is no birth or death within Self. Ramana Maharshi:

Reincarnation exists only so long as there is ignorance. There is really no reincarnation at all, either now or before. Nor will there be any hereafter. This is the truth

I found Angus and Julia Stone by chance when the algorithm for youtube introduced me, as soon as I heard them I wanted to hear more, now I’ve listened to their entire catalogue and enjoy every song. Sounds like I want to hear more of these great Australian artists, please, encore!

Angus & Julia Stone are an Australian folk and indie pop group, formed in 2006 by brother and sister Angus and Julia Stone. Angus & Julia Stone have released four studio albums: A Book Like This (2007), Down the Way (2010), Angus & Julia Stone (2014), and Snow (2017). At the ARIA Music Awards of 2010, they won five awards from nine nominations: Album of the Year, Best Adult Alternative Album, Best Cover Art and Producer of the Year for Down the Way, and Single of the Year for “Big Jet Plane“. The siblings have issued two solo albums each.

Sounds like, was the name of an algorithm I learned about many years ago, now that’s what causes the introduction, as I was listening to something similar in genre, perhaps Ben Harper or Michael Kiwanuka, both favourites of mine, so sounds like works great!

The brother and sister duo made an excellent video that is haunting and beautiful about the life and times of a rock star, maybe it was written as a sister to a brother or a woman to her love but whichever it’s very sweet
